Hello.

It's been over a year since I started this project.  Right after graduation this year, I started full time work and haven't had very much time to do anything. But, this project is something I will continue to pursue.

In the last devlog, I stated that I intended to restart the project from the ground up. That is still the plan. I have started writing a new game design document (GDD) as well as preparing an internal documentation document (IDD).

I've also been researching new ways to write and improve the efficiency of my code. I will be reworking every single system and mechanic. A lot of the code I had seen elsewhere online seemed dauting when I first started this project, but I now understand more and know how to utilize various new things.

I'll also have to setup a proper github repo for version control. Zipping the project files takes up way too much space on my physical and cloud drives.

The rough plan I have so far is as follows:

  • KEEP THINGS SIMPLE
  • Rewrite the GDD and setup the IDD
  • Build and iterate on the core systems/mechanics
  • Get play testers
  • Commission my buddy for art
  • Work on sound design and animation
  • Bundle everything into release v1
  • Work on simple showcase videos
  • Iterate, refine and improve onwards

Unfortunately, due to work, I'll probably only be able to work on this project over the weekends. I might be able to spare an hour or two during the weekdays, but I'll be starting correspondence schooling to upgrade my math in preparation for schooling to become an electrician, which means that I will be even more busy.

I look forward to seeing where this project goes. If I can make it a success, I'll start work on the other ideas I have. I've got a very vague idea for my dream game, which combines my favorite aspects of many games, such as: Stella Glow, Day R, Minecraft, Dragon Quest, Advance Wars, Stardew Valley, Quest of Dungeons, Adventure Bar Story, and Final Fantasy.

Thanks for reading.
