#19 | Progress Report

Hello!

Since the last devlog, I've continued my work on optimizing code and fixing bugs prior to the first play testing session, which was only a few hours ago at the time of writing this.

Through today's testing, I have been informed of some critical gameplay bugs, which is good. Now that I'm at a point where I can write more advanced code, alongside fixing it when it breaks, I can work on actually making the game interesting and fun for other people.

All of the game builds will be linked here in my public github repo. I have made the decision to post both the development and release game builds because I need player feedback in order to build a good game. I've seen too many examples of developers and publisher's not listening to their player base and the major issues that causes, so I strive to be the polar opposite. So far, the play testing has been with a small group of people. In the future, I plan to expand that if the game takes off.

I have also made progress on my version control system. So far, I've been using github to backup my code, which has worked perfectly. Now, I have created my own build versioning system:

As for versioning the backed up project files, I probably won't do that until release, unless I come up with a separate idea for that. I've just been tracking the changes in each commit's description.

I'm very happy with the work I've put into this project. It's been very slow, and it will continue to be slow, but at least it's steady progress. As I receive feedback, I'll track it in my GDD and implement it as needed. We'll see if I can get to a full release build one day.

So far, my full time work is going quite well. I cut hundreds to thousands of feet of cable, and occasionally route and terminate it. We all start with the grunt work, and I find ways to enjoy it.

Thanks for reading!
